April 2013 – Neil Pili Photography
Neil is a great friend and someone we have a ton of fun working with. You’ve seen his work from our 02/13 bridal shoot, our big birthday bash event photos, and our listing on The Knot. Neil is awesome for so many reasons we thought it’d be selfish not to share…
Which muppet would you be? Yes, muppet.
Definitely, Kermit the Frog! He is the muppet that all other muppets love to be around because he is always happy and excited. That’s just like me!
When did you realize you wanted to seriously pursue photography?
I’ve always been interested in photography, ever since I first shot with a Polaroid camera when I was kid! However, I didn’t think about starting my own business until last year when I shot a wedding as a favor for a friend. That was my first shoot where people were really depending on my images. It ended up being an amazing experience and I just fell in love with the whole process of being a photographer right after that!
What is your biggest source of inspiration?
My family and friends. I wouldn’t be anywhere without their genuine support and advice.
Do you have any rituals or habits that help you be creative/productive?
Most of my free time is spent studying different lighting, shooting, and post processing methods of other photographers. I believe it motivates me to incorporate new techniques and styles so my own photography doesn’t get stale or repetative.
What’s your favorite thing/place/person to shoot?
I have to be honest and say that shooting with a professional model is amazing! It makes a shoot so easy when I work with a person who is experienced with pulling off different poses and can naturally change their facial expressions.
Why is Neil Pili Photography better than everyone else?
I would say that my ability to connect and work with people comes natural to me which is great for photography! I also believe that my near obsessive attention to detail with post processing images helps me pull off that polished and professional look that most clients want.
Where do you see your business is five years?
What else is up, man?
