On set hairstyling for Autumnal Equinox with Amelia Fletcher
Fall is definitely in the air! We got together with the incredibly talented Amelia Fletcher last week to finish her seasonal portrait series before she embarks on her new adventure and leaves Chicago.
Amelia has been styling herself for her portrait series, has done an AMAZING job, and we knew the pressure was definitely on to create something really awesome. For this shoot we wanted to incorporate the warmth of Fall, lots of texture, movement, and color. Fall is my personal favorite so, I was really excited to be able to work on this.
We used chalk to add yellows, reds and oranges to her hair. Next, we created a twig halo and positioned leafless stems around her head. We made it outside for stick hunting just in time before a torrential downpour began. The pinecones had a lovely cinnamon smell – something I wish could be visually transposed. Surprisingly we did not use any extensions – that’s all her hair!
I always love watching these guys shoot. They speak in a language I can’t understand and are always sharing their knowledge with others in the studio. That’s what is so amazing about Phlearn and the people they attract. It’s a group of super talented people working together to learn and produce breathtaking work. Any time, guys!
